Plot[]

Puss in Boots is calmly relaxing on the fountain of San Lorenzo, he then becomes restless and defensive about possible threats entering San Lorenzo. To his surprise no such threat arrives. Just then a minor earthquake erupts and alerts the citzens of San Lorenzo. Unaware of the looming apocalypse, they disregard it as a regular earthquake.

Maldonna arrives and is understandably infuriated with Artephius for not revealing his existence. She tells the story of her sobbing and mourning at his grave: She planted flowers and they died due to being overwatered by her tears. She planted more but were eaten by herbivorous vultures that soon became her only friends in the world who left her soon for being too clingy. Artephius attempts to apologize but Maldonna declines and snaps at him. She informs that she would like to adopt one of the Orphans, realizing the importance of family after reuniting with her sisters during Artephius' absence.

Señora Zapata and Dulcinea become distraught and try to oppose the adoption, with the head even suggesting assassinating the prospective mother. Kid Pickles overhears the conversation between their caretakers and warns the rest of the orphans. Outside, Puss in Boots brawls with three thieves returning to town who reveal their true intentions for inhabiting San Lorenzo. They attempt to guilt trip Puss in Boots into allowing them to continue inhabiting San Lorenzo. Puss in boots disapproves by claiming San Lorenzo is already fully populated but tells them they can follow him and find a new town similar to San Lorenzo.

Maldonna challenges the orphans into doing tests she provides for them. She challenges them into pie-eating contests, jumping contests, and more. All trying to avoid the adoption they begrudgingly do all the challenges to convince Maldonna they're unworthy but fail by accidentally impressing her, who claims they all won. Puss in Boots leads the thieves into a shabby and deserted Dead Man's Hollow, with causes the thieves to rejoice at all the work opportunities they will have. Puss leaves them to be, warning them off the ravenous ogre before leaving. Back at San Lorenzo the Duchess decides to move into the San Lorenzo Orphanage to live with all of them, after witnessing the orphans arguing, due to their arguing reminding her of her early life with her sisters, who even then had been at odds. It showed her how close the orphans already were, not unlike a biological one. She decides to forgive the ditzy Artephius with his antics and San Lorenzo temporarily returns to normal.
